Dear Chocolatier 2018
Jan. 4th, 2018 05:40 amIt's my first fic exchange, and I'm generally rather bad at articulating my hopes into letter form and ran out of time, so kindly bear with this rambling letter-in-progress while I work with it, hope to get it done by tomorrow.
I hope something in this letter piques your writing fancy, but please don't feel pressured to include everything (I think that'd be impossible)!

General DNWs:
Pwp or exessive focus on smut (sex, even rough, in itself is fine, as long as it's not the only focus), noncon, scat/watersports/focusing overly on other bodily fluids, rimming, mutilation etc other such hard exessive unrequested kinks, character death /torture /gore, incest, darkfics, omegaverse, high school/coffeeshop or such cliche AUs, unrequited love/ break-up/infidelity between pairings, competing ships involving requested characters, religion or character bashing.
Exceptions: mild bondage or mild mind control via aphrodisiacs or whatever is okay. In general I'm not that squeamish, I just want them to like each other and like what's going on (at least somewhat), and don't want a fic that's only explicit porn.
(Tentacles are also fine for Gavin/Sezin, obviously.)
Redemption arcs, power couples, morally ambiguous characters etc are also my jam (even though again, maybe not relevant for these pairings).
Angst, UST (also eventually resolved, ayyyy), fake dating, possessiveness, jealousy, forced proximity, the works. I'm also into political scheming and worldbuilding details - I think this might show in the pairings I chose, heh.
AUs might be fine, at least if they're canon divergent - time travel or (well-researched!) historical AUs for example might be fun? But please no high school or coffeeshop etc stuff. In general I think I'd prefer to stay close to canon.
INTEGRATE - Gavin/Sezin:
It's also interesting how humans, due to their dull senses, just don't instinctively get a lot of things that are super obvious to the hirsa, even something as blatant as mate-marks. (I really wonder just how blatantly Sezin had marked Gavin, considering how the scald saw him as one of their own and their colleagues were cracking jokes about them getting together well before Gavin got the hint, heheh).
I'm also a little intrigued at Sezin's implied disdain over human mating habits and how loose humans are in his view (which seems to be shared by other hirsa), for hirsa, who mate for life and are rather intense and primal and instinctive about a lot of things, humans and their drifting in and out of relationships and how fleeting even marriage is must seem somewhat indecent, salacious or debauched, and I'd assume Sezin had a lot of misgivings and prejudices about that before daring to indicate his interest at Gavin.
I will be happy with almost anything: cultural clashes, Sezin's POV on any canon events or him struggling with coming to grips with being attracted to a mammal and getting over his prejudices, seeing humans as alien in general, Sezin reacting to starting to see Gavin more and more as "his" especially with the scenting, Sezin being possessive and conflicted and insecure and pining, everything involving mate-marking and scenting, the rest of the Scald of the force giving him shit about Gavin clearly not realising he's effectively labeled as his, them slowly exploring their relationship and being with a member of a different species and all the misunderstandings, them still occasionally reacting to the alienness of it all, Gavin pining after Sezin and coming to grips with having the hots for an alien, Gavin being clueless about a lot of stuff, as smart as he is, Sezin absolutely not getting humans and their weird slang, sweet sweet loving, trying to arrange for a date night, having minor conflicts over each other's habits or favorite foods, whatever.
Whatever!
I'm really intrigued by the parallels between Jackie and Tom, and how they might complement each other: water and fire, her endless chill and his fiery passion, how they both seem to be longing for love and into big, romantic moments (and dressing up to the nines for a date despite their general grunge-y style), how Jackie's incredible straightforwardness and ability/willingness to go for what she wants and articulate her feelings might work with Tom's bluntness, how they're both into piercings and Love Sentence and so forth. I think they'd be great influences on each other, she'd be the chill support he needs to be the better person he so desperately wants to be, and his ardent passion might be just what she needs - I bet she'd appreciate his huge romantic gestures.
So, either in-canon or aged up AU, mermaid!Jackie or normal Jackie, I'm just interested in their dynamic, how they might recognise their attraction to one another, whether it'd be scandalous for Tom to start dating a non-royal human from a different dimension, how they would interact on dates, how she'd effortlessly chill out his rages before they even begin.
Alys/Sigorn is one of the sweetest romances in ASOIAF imo. In general I love enemies-to-lovers and arranged marriage stories, so something in their dynamic, how their societies have traditionally viewed each other with such hostility, and how they both now choose to marry anyway, despite their fears and prejudices, because they recognise how beneficial it is, really appeals to me. So anything with the prejudices and old beliefs clashing with the reality, their budding attraction and passion to one another, cultural and language clashes, learning about each other and becoming the northern power couple they're destined to be, it's all good. They're breaking old boundaries and stepping into the unknown together and it's adorable. Also Sigorn as a protective husband who's kinda nervous about having to act the kneeler castle lord would be grand.
